How automatically publishing content works with the Connector's translation workflow

Product: Connector for Sitecore

Version: all versions

Questions

Sitecore has publishing settings for defining when to automatically publish versions and items.

How do these settings interact with the Automatically Publish content when it reaches the Final State parameter in a translation workflow?

Answer

The Connector does not override Sitecore's publishing settings. If the Automatically Publish content when it reaches the Final State parameter in the active translation workflow is selected, then the Connector tries to publish the item to the Web database.

However, Sitecore removes items that the Connector publishes to the Web database in the following scenarios:

  • if publishing an item has been restricted and the time has passed
  • if publishing of that item has been restricted and the time has not yet come

For example:

Date Items Publishable Source in Final State Source Published Target in Final State Target Published
January 10

January 8 Sitecore prevents publication

January 9 Sitecore prevents publication
January 8 January 15 January 15
January 12 January 12 January 15 January 15
